Josey was adopted January 2022!
PERSONALITY
I’m delightful, quirky, independent, and confident. Food is a great motivator for me, possibly stemming from a lack of it while living on the streets. My confidence level is high; I love to greet strangers.
When so inclined, I wrap myself around my human’s legs and hold on. I haven’t displayed a cuddly side as yet, but that might change with time.
Favorite Toy: Absolutely adore my scratching post — I wrap myself around it; it’s probably my favorite place.
Favorite Napping Spot: Another favorite place is in the hammock attached to my scratching post.
HOW I CAME TO THE PGSPCA
I was found wandering the streets, sick and underweight. A good-hearted woman alerted PGSPCA of my suffering and it’s a good thing she did! I was severely anemic, very dehydrated, and had alarmingly low blood pressure. After an emergency trip to the vet in the middle of the night, PGSPCA raised enough money for a blood transfusion and I recovered well. Now I’m ready for a home of my own.
DREAM FAMILY
I would be perfectly happy being an only cat. With careful supervision, I will adjust to other cats and dogs. My perfect family would appreciate my independence.

Meet Chimmu! Sweet, curious, and — with his gorgeous, golden-brown coat — one very handsome boy indeed! Born on the streets in India, where his mother overcame many obstacles to keep him and his siblings safe and fed, he is now in a foster home here in the States.
Chimmu is a people-pleaser and very ready for his forever home, where he could chase a ball, snuggle on the sofa, take long walks, and just have fun with his people. Although he has grown up with other dogs, he is shy at first with people he doesn’t know. It won’t take long, though, for him to bond with a family who welcomes him gently and makes him feel at home – in other words, like one of the pack!

Mammy
Monae
Monae is a brindle beauty who is a rock star on leash, fully house trained and makes for an excellent work from home buddy! She likes to be with her people.
Some of Monae’s favorite things:
– treats, stuffed Kongs, lick mats
– affection and giving kisses
– meeting new friends, a stranger is just a friend she hasn’t met yet!
– hitting snooze! Monae will happily sleep in on the weekend with you and makes the cutest snores.
– playing tug
Monae is very food motivated and immediately sits for treats and meals, allows baths and nail trims, a trustworthy mature lady!
She can be picky about her dog friends, and prefers those that will respect her space and wouldn’t mind having her humans to herself!

Rancor has a pending application!
Rancor came to the rescue timid and scared, but as she slowly learned to trust her humans, her confident, playful, and loving side began to shine through. She’s protective of her shyer littermates, and now plays easily with the humans in her life too.
She’s patient when it comes to lap time, often sitting in front of you and staring until she’s invited up, then settling in after a meal. She is full of energy and endlessly playful. She’s great with adults, kids, and other cats. Her experience with dogs is unknown, so a dog-free introduction period would be a good idea if you have one at home.
Favorite Toy: feathers on a string, going full acrobat to catch them mid-air. She’d likely be just as obsessed with a red laser dot
As a Domestic Short Hair, she needs minimal brushing, though she enjoys it anyway. Nail trims make her a little wiggly, but she handles them well overall.
How I Came to PGSPCA
In a galaxy not so far away (okay, just next door), a small colony of cats had been living wild for years, multiplying in the shadows with no one looking out for them. Kittens would come and go, and no one really knew what became of them once they wandered off.
Then a family of rebels intervened. Determined to give these younglings a real shot at life, they smuggled the newest litter out of the colony and into a secret base (also known as the spare bathroom). It wasn’t glamorous, but it was safe, and that was enough to change everything.
The kittens arrived scrappy and small, fighting off infections that clouded their eyes. But with steady care and the Force of a good vet team behind them, they healed. Now, fully recovered, vaccinated, and ready for their next mission, they’re searching the galaxy for the one thing every good story needs: a furever home.
Dream Home
Rancor would thrive in an active household ready to keep up with her energy and love of toys and play. She can match the pace of Bantha, Sarlac, Krayt, or Porge in a high-energy home, or balance out a calmer household paired with Mudhorn or Wampa. Like her siblings, she needs to be adopted with a companion her age.

Wampa has come a long way, from terrified of her new surroundings to genuinely comfortable. Rancor became her protector early on, and as Rancor grew more social, Wampa slowly began to follow her lead. Every mealtime, she purrs loudly and allows petting, and her socialization saw a real breakthrough once she was fed from a spoon, then eventually a finger.
She’s extremely gentle and rewards patience. Once she felt safe, she stopped bolting when approached, and now she’ll settle nearby to eat, drink, groom, and simply watch. She can be picked up and placed in a lap, where she’ll stay as long as the petting stays consistent, purring loudly even when she still seems a little unsure. Give her a few minutes, and she settles into peaceful sleep.
She grooms herself well and needs little upkeep, and she stays calm through nail trims. Early on, her foster family found that gently setting her down and letting her walk away, rather than letting her leap out of their arms, helped her learn she didn’t need to run.
She has a playful side that can go toe-to-toe with the most energetic of her littermates. She’s an acrobat when it comes to feathers on a string, and she also loves chasing balls with bells and ping pong balls. Fast-moving toys are her favorite, fast-moving humans are not. She’s good with kids, adults, and other cats. Given her timid nature, a dog is not recommended for her home.

Dream Home
Wampa would do best in a calmer home, where she won’t be pushed into flight mode. As with Mudhorn, a gradual introduction works best: a small space for the first few days to get familiar, then slowly opening up the rest of the home rather than all at once. She needs an energetic littermate who can help draw her further out of her shell. Bantha, Purrgil, or Rancor would all be great matches.
Millie
Millie is a sweet girl who loves to run and play, but when playtime is over, she is more than happy to relax. Morning cuddle time is one of her favorite things—she loves starting and ending the day snuggled up next to you!
She is great with kids and other dogs and loves being around her people. Millie is also doing really well with her house training. As she’s still a puppy she is not quite 100% but she is making great progress!
Millie has that wonderful combination of playful energy and affectionate sweetness. At just 11 months old, Millie has her whole life ahead of her—and she’s ready to find the forever family who will love her as much as her foster family does.
Fiona
Meet Fiona! A 3-year-old pocket pittie who is basically the perfect combination of smart, silly, affectionate, and just a tiny bit mischievous.
Fiona recently attended a BBQ festival, where she got to experience a whole new world of sights, sounds, smells, people, and excitement! She had great interactions with another dog and happily met children of all ages. She handled her big adventure beautifully and showed us once again what a sweet, social girl she can be.
Fiona has two favorite modes: “Let’s go see what’s happening!” and “Please rub my belly immediately.” She loves exploring, investigating, playing, and then settling in for some serious snuggle time. She’s curious about the world and is seriously intelligent – she has even figured out how to open some doors! One minute she’s investigating the universe. The next, she’s upside down on the couch waiting for belly rubs like it’s her full-time job. Fiona wants to be involved, she wants to learn, and most of all, she wants to be with her people!
Buddy
Buddy is a 1 year old doodle mix that was found roaming the streets of Pennsylvania extremely emaciated, but despite everything he has been through, Buddy is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and trusting. Currently 15 lbs, Buddy will not grow any larger but his ideal weight is a bit heavier.
If Buddy had to choose between a treat and getting some love from his person, there’s a good chance he’d choose the pets! He absolutely loves attention and enjoys being close to people. He’s also a playful little guy who likes toys, neighborhood walks, and rolling around on the couch and making himself completely at home.
Buddy already knows “sit” and “come.” He’s still learning some of the finer points of being a house dog. Because he is not yet neutered, his foster family currently uses a belly band/diaper in the house while working with him. He could also use some continued leash training, especially when he spots other dogs as he gets excited!
Buddy would be happy with a single person, a couple, or a family who is ready to give him the consistency, patience, and affection he deserves. After having such a rough start, what Buddy seems to want most is simple: someone to love him and let him know he’s finally home.
Estrella
Meet this gorgeous husky-mix girl who’s as sweet as she is stunning! With her striking looks, affectionate personality, and photogenic smile, she’s sure to steal hearts wherever she goes. She loves being around her people, whether she’s exploring the yard, lounging on the couch, or curling up beside you for a nap. With a perfect medium energy level, she’s always up for an adventure but is just as happy relaxing after some outdoor fun.
She’s 100% house-trained, knows “sit,” enjoys being brushed, and absolutely lives for belly rubs, ear scratches, and face kisses. Once she’s settled in, she does wonderfully in her crate and has excellent house manners. She’s also treat-motivated, eager to learn, and gets along well with respectful dogs that appreciate personal space.
This smart, loving girl would thrive with a husky-savvy family in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts adventure buddy and cuddle bug, she just might be your perfect match!
