About Me

Virgil was adopted September 2020!

I’m Virgil – a young Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with short fur with beautiful blue merle coloring (dark grey and black with a white chest). I’m full grown at about 50 pounds, but have a little filling out to do. On July 29th, I was neutered and put into foster care on the same day, so I’ve had a lot to adjust to. However, I’m a very sweet, affectionate boy who is smart, energetic and eager to please.

I already have helpful home habits. I don’t beg and I rarely bark. I love to chew, but on my toys, not your shoes. I’m very playful and prefer to play with you, but can go get my toy and entertain myself when needed. I’m fully housebroken and am good about telling you when I need out and doing my business right away. I don’t jump on people when I greet them, but if they sit on the floor I might try to climb into their lap.

There’s nothing I like more than a walk, especially if I can bring a stick home with me. I’m alright on a leash but would chase every squirrel and deer I saw if I could. I’d love a fenced yard because I really enjoy playing fetch. I’d also be happy working on training or getting a belly rub. Really, I just want to do anything with you, even if it’s only napping on the floor (or ideally on a dog bed) at your feet. I’ve been abandoned before and am anxious about it happening again. I give my heart quickly and completely and need a forever home that will show me that even when my family leaves they will come back to me again. Will you be that home?
