Martha

Martha is such a little cutie!! She is SUPER affectionate and loving, and you can usually find her curled up on someone’s lap.

Unless, of course, she is outside, romping in the leaves with her doggie companions, playing chase or looking for squirrels. She very much enjoys going on walks and exploring, but she gets a little excited sometimes if she sees other animals.

She’s always excited at mealtimes, which she can make disappear in about 30 seconds! And she loves those in-between meal treats, too!

With her fun and winning personality, we think you’ll enjoy her company and we know she’ll bring joy to your life. Please come and meet her at an adoption show.

Martha IS expecting to attend the next adoption show, January 11th at the Calverton/Silver Spring PetSmart, but only from 12-1. As always, plans may need to change at the last minute.

Morty. I’m adopted!

MORTY-soft
Morty_Aug9 MortybMorty was adopted January 2015!

Morty is an 8 year old lab mix with the enthusiasm of a puppy and a desire to please. He is happiest just hanging with his people. And getting treats.

He enjoys learning new tricks. He knows his basic commands, as well as advanced ones like leave it and touch, and tricks like play dead.

Being around other dogs at adoption shows is a bit stressful for him, so send us a note and we’ll set up a private meeting.

Lucy

lucy1 lucy2

Lucy was found abandoned in an empty row house undergoing renovation. Her rescuer intended to keep her, but after many months it has become clear that although Lucy adores people and is very affectionate with them, she cannot live with dogs or other cats. Consequently, Lucy is currently living in one room, and her rescuer believes she deserves more.

This gorgeous, pure white cat is about 2 years old, has been spayed, and is up to date on her shots. If you live in the MD/DC/NoVA area and are interested in adopting Lucy, email brendangc@verizon.net.

Mittens

This is no way to start life! Little Mittens was found in a cardboard box with no blanket and no food, shivering away. A kind person found her and asked us if we could help her. Of course we couldn’t turn her away.

Mittens is coming around, developing her personality but most of all enjoying the warmth of a home, a gentle hand and love. She’s 9 weeks and weighs just 2 pounds. If you would like to help her grow and blossom, let us know!

Please consult our ADOPTION FAQS before contacting us. If Mittens is not listed as Pending or Adopted, you may assume she is still available.

Patience

All Patience needs in life is to be the center of your attention. She gets along with other dogs, but can get a bit territorial when it comes to receiving attention – she doesn’t want to share it! Because of that, it’s probably best that she goes to a home where she’s the only dog so she doesn’t have to fight for your attention. When she does have your attention she loves to cuddle up next to you so she can get all of the pets, hugs, and love possible. She’s not that interested in toys, doesn’t climb on any furniture, and is very calm when everyone else in the house is relaxing.

If you are interested in Patience, consider letting us know by filling out a (no obligation) adoption application (https://sites.google.com/pgspcavol/applications).
Patience is not expecting to attend the next adoption show, Saturday January 18th at the Annapolis PetCo, from 12 to 2, although there’s always a possibility that plans will need to change at the last minute.

Sasha

sasha2sasha3 sasha1

Sasha is a lab-terrier mix who was rescued from a hoarding situation after having at least one litter of puppies. She is loving, affectionate, and eager to please. Sasha is really smart and knows lots of commands. Her sit-stay is iron-clad and very impressive! Sasha is house trained, extremely playful, and very sweet. She is quick to roll over for a belly rub and she loves to play with just about any toy.

Even though Sasha lived with a number of dogs, she is not always sure how to play with new dogs. She needs more socialization and leash training, but she is basically a friendly, alert, active dog. Sasha is a perfect lady indoors, crates well and is a first-rate cuddler. She would benefit from a secure fenced yard.
Sasha was recently on T.V.!

If you are interested in Sasha, consider letting us know by filling out a (no obligation) adoption application (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zIHnSOJGQ2YUNoQttR6HM3jXoQbBlvQ8llR36sZacPg/viewform), and we will arrange a private meeting for you with Sasha. Sasha is unlikely to attend any adoption shows.

Vaughn is a new foster and we don’t know much about him.

Cecilia

CeCe on Channel 9cecilia1 cecilia3 cecilia2

If you’€™re interested in puppy love, Cece’s the girl for you. She is an adorable, wiggly, bundle of energy with the wildest ears (sometimes they flop, and sometimes they stand up straight)! We’€™ve had a tough time figuring out her breed. First we thought lab- shepherd mix because of her ears, coat, and tail. But, then she’s only 30 some pounds so that wasn’€™t a good option. So now we have her as a Manchester terrier mix.

Whatever she is, she’€™s friendly, out-going, loves toys and people. She’s very smart and learning lots of new stuff: Sit!, Down!, Come!, Leave it!, Stay! She fetches like a champ – check out the video!

Cecelia needs a home with a fenced yard and someone with a work schedule that won’t require that she be left for more than 6 hours a day. If you’re interested in bringing a young puppy into your home, come and meet her at one of our adoption shows soon!

Cece was recently on TV (http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=269854).
If you are interested in Cece, consider letting us know by filling out a (no obligation) adopion application ( https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zIHnSOJGQ2YUNoQttR6HM3jXoQbBlvQ8llR36sZacPg/viewform). Cece is NOT expecting to attend the next adoption show (see http://sites.google.com/site/pgspcavol/events), January 11th at the Calverton/Silver Spring PetSmart, 12-2, although there’s always a possibility that plans will need to change at the last minute.

Molly – I’m adopted!

molly2molly3molly

Molly was found wandering the streets of DC. She attached herself to one of our fosterers’ son and he brought her home. After several weeks trying to find her owners, the foster put her in our program. She is a sweet playful pup who loves to romp with the other dogs in her foster home. She is a quick learner and has picked up some simple commands, Sit and Come. She’s an enthusiastic wiggle-butt if she’s excited but also a cuddle-bug when it’s time to relax.

As Molly generally doesn’t attend adoption shows, if you are interested in Molly, consider letting us know by filling out a (no obligation) adoption application. We can then arrange for you to meet her.

Adopted! Hana

Hana_001Hana_004Hana_008aHana was adopted September of 2014!!

Hana would like you to know…
I am a vibrant lovebug and I promise to stay by your side forever. I have some arthritis, so I don’t really run and jump around; taking a nice short walk several times a day is my idea of a good time. Otherwise, I will sit beside you or even better, lay my head in your lap so that you can pet me “til the cows come home”. Look into my eyes and you will see a beautiful lady who just wants to love and be loved for the rest of my days.

Hana is a courtesy post.
