Hi, I'm Birdie. I’m adopted!

Birdie was adopted July 2021!

I will make a fantastic pet and am so excited to meet you! I am a super smart and easily trainable dog who is food motivated and will respond well when you use treats. I have energy but once I go for a nice long walk or a run, or we play fetch, I will lie near your feet and chill out with you. I am alert, and will respond with a bark if I hear something strange, but I do not bark much, and I will not annoy others with excessive barking.

I am great with kids, although a little energetic, so you can help to teach them how to treat me well and help me learn how to be more calm around them, but when I recently spent an entire day with a 3 year old, I was pretty awesome. I will go into my crate so well, and I will whine for a few minutes but then I’m done. I sleep super well in there and sleep all night long, which is a dream for any owner!

My biggest flaws are that I am still learning about house training, so sometimes I get confused, but I’m on a really good roll right now and haven’t had to be corrected in at least 3 days! I play well with other dogs but sometimes I bark when I meet them – I’m just excited – but sometimes my bark is taken as aggression. I’m not. I am a little shy meeting new people, but I warm up pretty quickly, especially with women. I am a bit more cautious with adult men so they need to be a little more patient with me as I get to know them.
