About Me

Just like Higgins, the first dog to play “Benji” on the 1960’s TV show “Petticoat Junction,” this sweet “Benji” was found wandering by himself before getting his second chance. Today, he is a healthy, happy and cuddly dog who is well behaved, “lives to eat” and “sings” for his breakfast and supper!!

Benji enjoys going outside and would be best matched with a family or a single “best buddy” who is home most of the time and can accommodate his need for frequent potty and exercise breaks. Benji is a little wary of strangers but will warm up quickly once he sees that his new friend is trustworthy and kind. Then he will be 100% devoted to you.

If you are interested in Benji, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us.

Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Benji will be attending the next adoption show.

NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. If you are not local to the DMV area, but are interested in one of our adoptable pets, that's okay. If you're approved to adopt, we can work out the geography!
