Penelope (part of a pair)
Foster meowmy calls me a princess, and I say she’s right! It might take me a little bit to warm up, but once I know I can trust you then I’m going to be cuddling you and using you as the throne I deserve.
Ideal home
The first time I met Muffin, I didn’t know what to think. But then he pushed up into me for snuggles and I knew that he and I were meant to be. I would love to be adopted with my bestie Muffin into a family that appreciated us and loved us.
Muffin (part of a pair)
According to foster meowmy, I can be quite the “silly boy”. I love to snuggle and I love to play. When I decide it’s snuggle time, there’s no denying me! I do love a good snuggle in a warm lap.
Ideal home
My foster sister Penelope and I are super close and bonded, I don’t know what I would do without her. When I first met her I cuddled up to her right away. She didn’t know what to think that first time I demanded that she snuggle me, but now we are inseparable. I would love having any other feline fury friends to cuddle with as well.
Patsy (Courtesy Post)
Meet Patsy, one of the three country kittens. They’re about 12 weeks old and ready to go to their forever home. Patsy is outgoing, energetic and loves to play and wrestle with her siblings. All the kittens love their wand toys and Churu’s. When she’s not roughhousing with her brother and sister, she’s super sweet and purrs like an engine while having “Sweet Dreams” of you. All the kittens are FelV and FIV negative, have been de-wormed, have had 3 rounds of vaccinations and their rabies shots, and have been spayed/neutered. The Adoption fee is $80. Though Patsy is outgoing and independent, she’d probably love to go home with one of her siblings. Email kittens.ummd@gmail.com for more information.

PGSPCA Announces New Leadership
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 1, 2024
PGSPCA Announces New Leadership. The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George’s County Inc. (PGSPCA) welcomes its first Executive Director and a new Board Chair.
Bowie, Maryland, November 1, 2024 – The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George’s County Inc., or PGSPCA, has named Cassie Hines as its first Executive Director, and volunteer Shannon McWilliams will serve as Chair for the Board of Directors.
Since 1975, PGSPCA has been an all-volunteer organization working to improve local animal welfare. That mission continues, with PGSPCA’s decision to hire a full-time Executive Director signaling its strong commitment to maximizing results. Under the new leadership, PGSPCA plans to expand its programs and services, making an even greater difference for the area’s animals.
“We are so happy to welcome Cassie as our Executive Director,” said Tamela Terry, outgoing president of PGSPCA’s Board of Directors. “Her management expertise and leadership skills, as well as her personal passion for our mission, make Cassie a perfect fit for this role. Together, Cassie and Shannon, as Board Chair, will be a phenomenal team to lead our organization into an exciting new chapter of growth and impact.”
Cassie Hines has over 15 years of executive experience in community outreach, marketing, and public relations through large-scale event planning. Born and raised in Western Maryland, Mrs. Hines later moved to Pennsylvania for college and the early years of her career in hospitality and business management. She has long had a passion for hospitality, event planning, community outreach, and animals. In her spare time, Mrs. Hines has fostered numerous homeless dogs and played an integral role in raising funds and awareness for local animal rescue efforts. She is delighted to mix career and her love of animals, and she looks forward to helping PGSPCA further its goals in the local community. In 2019 Mrs. Hines relocated to Annapolis where she lives with her husband, a veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, and their two rescue mutts, Gnarly Dog and Ruger.
Shannon McWilliams has been involved in animal rescue since the age of eight, when she learned to help her aunt care for stray cats. Hailing from Virginia, Shannon attended college and graduate school in upstate New York before returning to work in the DMV area. She joined the PGSPCA in 2020 when looking to help the community cats behind her new apartment building. Shannon then served as a foster and general volunteer before becoming cat adoption coordinator and later joining the PGSPCA Board of Directors. She holds two bachelor’s degrees and two master’s degrees, is a licensed clinical social worker, and enjoys employing those credentials to help people for a living. Shannon is equally passionate about her volunteer work and improving animal welfare in Prince George’s County. A Maryland resident since 2017, she shares her home with three wonderful felines named Lucy, Tallulah, and Daisy.

Percy. I’m adopted!
Percy was adopted January 2025!
I am a very sweet girl! I’ll greet you at the door if I’m not too deep into my nap. I love to be pet along my spine and love cheek scratches. I love to play with my brother Mouse and chase toys and strings, but I also love napping in bed or on top of your laundry.
Favorite place to sleep: I love to lay in bed, preferably on your pillow but maybe next to your feet. If you leave your laundry on a chair you might find me asleep on top of it.
Favorite toys: Anything with strings and bells!!!
Favorite hobbies: Napping, play fighting with Mouse, chasing strings, nibbling fingers.
HOW I CAME TO PGSPCA
I was surrendered from a house where the people were older and very overwhelmed.
DREAM HOME
Mouse and I would love to be in a home with at least a few people and plenty of cozy spots to nap! We love to sit and look out the window, lay in our scratching box, chase paper balls and bells, and of course wrestle each other. Mouse tolerates mellow dogs, but I am a bit unsure. We are both super sweet and will love to be around you. We will be the perfect addition to your family, and would love to be adopted together as we are best friends!!
Mouse. I’m adopted!
Mouse was adopted January 2025!
My personality is chatty, sweet, and lovey! I get the zoomies about once a day but then I pass out in a nap. I love chasing strings and little bells and play fighting with my sister Percy.
Favorite place to sleep: in the bed with you, on your warm laundry, or in our scratching box
Favorite toys: paper balls, ping pong balls, strings, and anything with a bell
Favorite hobbies: chewing string, sticking paws under the door, sleeping on a warm blanket, looking out the window

Bucky. I’m adopted!
Bucky was adopted November 2024!
Adopt playful, loyal Bucky! He is a 4 year old Labrador/Plott hound (best guess – we really don’t know what he is!) who is extremely affectionate with people and eager to please. He plays well with other dogs and is gentle with people. He knows “sit”, “down”, “paw” commands and is easy to walk with! He likes peanut butter, blow drying after bathes, playing with other dogs, surprising squirrels during walks, chewing on toys/bones, and curling up on the couch for movie nights.
He is very goofy and has a Labrador’s easy-going attitude! He dislikes being left alone in new environments and will bark to let you know it. He is crate trained. He would be the best boy for a loving family!
Faith
Faith is a
little over a year old and has lots of playful puppy energy! She would love a fenced yard for zoomies, and she loves to play with other dogs, too. She can play a bit rough and doesn’t always understand when the other dog is not so keen to play. She would do best with other playful yet patient dogs who can show her the ropes. She missed the early memos about jumping, play-biting, and pouncing on others, so she needs an adopter who can continue working with her on these behaviors. She’s also working on loose-leash walking and has the most adorable prancing step! She will notice other dogs and critters but can be redirected by talking to her. She loves to chase bugs in the backyard. She rides great in the car and would love to travel with you!
This adorable pocket pittie also wants to be a lap dog, and will try to crawl into your lap when you sit. She does well in the crate for a few hours at a time. While she knows she’s supposed to do her business outside, she is young and still sometimes has accidents in the crate and around the house. She’s very curious and intently studies anything new in her space. She’s a clever, eager girl, and will flourish with someone who will bond with her through training.
