Sophie. I’m adopted!

Sophie was adopted November 2025!

This adorable girl will put a smile on your face. The local animal shelter listed Sophie as a dachshund/labrador retriever mix. We really have no clue what breed she is, but we can say she is incredibly cute and sweet. Sophie is estimated to be 6 years old and weighs 21 lbs.    Even though Sophie is estimated to be 6, she acts younger.   She would do great in an active home, a family who loves long walks/hiking.     She loves to play with other dogs.  We recently cat tested her and she did amazing.   We also think she would do fine with kids.    Sophie loves to be with her humans, and while she is a bit big for it, she feels she is a lap dog.  She also is a very kissy girl.  Her foster Mom reports that Sophie’s tail is always wagging, and she is a very happy girl. Wouldn’t you like to add this ray of sunshine to your home?

Katie

Katie is a 14 yr old shih tzu mix that was rescued from the PG County animal shelter on
09/08/25. Sadly, her previous owner had taken her there for euthanasia but thankfully the shelter
sent out a rescue plea instead.

She is very low-maintenance – pretty much the only time you hear her is when it’s time for
breakfast or dinner and even then, it’s just a low grumbling sound to let you know you aren’t
moving fast enough! She’s like Mikey – she eats everything!! (If you know, you know..lol)

Due to her limited vision, she will do best in a home with not many or no steps (unless they can
be blocked off) and no young children as she is easily startled. She currently lives in a home
with four small dogs and gets along with all of them but she will be fine as an only dog. As an
older lady, she will probably do best with a family that is home most of the time to let her out for
potty breaks. She will also require regular grooming.

Katie will lay in your lap while you work or curl up next to you while you watch TV. She is
such a sweet girl that will make you smile just from looking at her adorable little face and
watching her tail wag when you say her name. Her appreciation for being given this second
chance is coming through in her personality more and more each day. Come meet her, you will love her immediately!

Benji

Benji was found as a stray, and when he was not claimed at Animal Control, came to live with a foster, where he was given professional veterinarian care to cure a couple of temporary conditions. Now in perfect health, Benji is full of life and love, and a joyful companion. Typical of Basenji’s, he does not bark, but “sings” for his breakfast and supper!!  Benji needs to be on a non-chicken food diet (easy to maintain).   He is well trained and responsive obediently; is comfortable in his crate when we leave the house for an hour or two, and sleeps all night (that is, from 9 pm-5 am—he is an early riser, and very hungry!!!)

Benji will be the perfect companion for someone who is home most of the time—he does need potty breaks every 2 hours or so, and some exercise time in a fenced yard. Benji is tender-hearted, affectionate, and well-behaved. He does bark and growl at strangers initially, both human and animal, so he will need patient introductions to others in the household. He truly is a well-behaved, sensitive cuddle bug who will be 100% devoted to you.

Bruce Willis, I’m adopted!

Bruce was adopted in October 2025.

Meet Bruce Willis!  No, not the actor, but the pup named after the famous actor!   Our Bruce is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 17lbs.   We believe he may be a lhasa apso or shih tzu mix.    Bruce currently lives in a foster home with other dogs and does well with them.  While we don’t know for sure about cats and kids, we suspect he will be fine.    While he is named after an action actor, our Bruce is a pretty chill little guy.   He is fairly quiet with only the occasional bark inside the home.    While outside, he will alert you to people walking by.    Bruce may sit in your lap, but he doesn’t need to be in your lap.  He is quite content just being in the same room as his humans.  However, his foster Mom does think he watches tv.   How cool would it be to watch a Bruce Willis movie, while sitting with Bruce Willis?   Oh and for the inquiring minds…Bruce is housetrained.

Oso. I’m adopted!

Oso was adopted October 2025!

Looking for an adventure buddy who’s as loyal as they come? Meet Oso, a vibrant and affectionate Norwegian Elkhound with a heart full of love and energy to match! Oso is a medium-to-large-sized dog with a strong, sturdy build. Standing tall with a majestic, fluffy beige undercoat beneath his gorgeous brown fur, he’s a striking dog that’s sure to turn heads wherever you go. Oso’s not just a pretty face – he’s a dog with a BIG personality! He’s incredibly loyal and loving, and once he’s bonded with you, he’ll be your steadfast companion through thick and thin; his devotion to his people is unmatched. . His playful spirit is contagious, and he thrives on human interaction – whether that’s cuddling up for some quality downtime or engaging in active play sessions.

Oso is a fan of all things fun and active! He loves his chew toys and enjoys being the center of attention. He’s a true outdoors enthusiast, so if you’re into hiking, running, or long walks, Oso will be right there with you, ready to go the extra mile. He’s always up for a good romp in the yard, and having a secure, fenced-in space where he can burn off that energy would be the perfect setup for him.

While Oso loves being surrounded by people, he’s not a fan of sharing space with cats. His strong prey drive means he tends to chase them, so he’d do best in a cat-free home, or one where he and any resident cats can have their own separate spaces.

He has a big, loving heart and is always looking for opportunities to make you smile. His boundless energy and zest for life make him the perfect companion for active families or individuals who want a dog to join them on all their outdoor adventures.

Are You the Right Home for Oso?

If you’re an active individual or family with plenty of room for playtime and exploration, Oso could be the dog of your dreams! He’s looking for a home where he can be the center of attention, enjoy his favorite activities, and form a deep, loving bond with his new family. Could it be with you?

Sadie

Sadie loves to be right next to her people. Sometimes she even fancies herself a lap dog. She’s a pretty low key dog, taking leisurely walks and smelling all of the trees, bushes, light poles, and sign posts along the way. But she picks up the pace on the down hill stretches, wanting to run as fast as she can to the bottom. Occasionally she’ll find a nice sunny patch of grass and flop over for a little rest.

Sadie would love a home with a fenced yard where she can run free of the confines of a harness and leash.

Inside, she’s just as low-key – snoozing right next to you, wherever you are in the house. She entertains herself by chewing on stuffed toys or fleece blankets and will play tug of war with her toys.

Sadie sometimes barks when first meeting new people, especially when they enter a room through a closed door, but warms up quickly when they show her affection.

Sadie doesn’t give any signal when she needs to go out to potty, so sometimes has accidents in the house. A home with a fenced yard and a doggy door might be a great solution.

Sadie might be ok with a canine sibling, but would really like to have all of your attention and love.   She has a very strong prey drive, so should not be left unattended with cats or other small pets..   Her previous life may not have been very positive, so she is afraid of sudden, loud noises and movement. A quiet, calm home would be best.

Bob (Courtesy Post)

Bob’s posting unlisted 10/2025 per owner. JM

Meet Bob! aka Bob Bark’R, Big Bob, Bobby, Sweet Boy – Bob is losing his home due to his family needing to move into a smaller location that does not allow big dogs. He is a 2 yr old neutered male weighing about 70lbs. He is very playful, loving and silly. He lives with 2 cats and seems to do well with other dogs.

Bob does need some more socialization. He gets scared around too much commotion in public, or if he hears very loud or strange noises, so a quiet home his needed. He also is just learning to walk on a leash so he will need a patient new person to help him get more comfortable with leash walking.

Although he is a big boy, Bob thinks he is a lap dog. He loves to lay in the recliner with his current person. He likes hard toys (will rip up soft ones) and loves pupperoni treats!

*Please note that due to the existing pitbull ban, Bob is not eligible to be adopted in Prince George’s County, MD.

Basil, I’m adopted!

Basil was adopted August 24, 2025.

Searching for my best friend! Basil is a 3 yo, 9lb tri color chi or min pin mix. She loves her family and will greet you with lots of kisses! You can generally find her sleeping  in your lap or cuddled next to you in a blanket. Basil barks at strangers but warms up after a few minutes. She enjoys walking on a leash. She loves destuffing a toy or a gentle game of tug. She coexists well with her foster family’s dogs but really wants to be your primary best friend. She will occasionally guard treats or treasured toys with dog friends.

Basil could live with adults or a family with older children. Because she bonds strongly with her family and can be barky with strangers, she might not do as well in an apartment, unless someone is frequently home.

Dayton, I’m adopted!

Dayton was adopted July 2025.

Dayton is the last of five puppies born to Fiona (the bestest Mom!), but he wanted to “stand out” so he waited a few hours so he could be born on 04/28/25! He’s affectionately known as “Day Day” or “Fat Albert” (due to his size – does anyone besides his foster know who that is)?? He has the thickest and silkiest fur of all the boys and the most beautiful green eyes you’ve ever seen on a little fluffy fluff!! He is estimated to be about 12-18lbs when he’s full grown and he will need to be groomed every 8 weeks!! He will be neutered on 07/25/25 and will be available to go home with his new family soon after. He will be up to date with age-appropriate shots. Due to his size and puppy mouthing, we prefer he goes to a home with adults or teenage children. He will chew inappropriate things as he is still teething. He will need to be given alternatives to teach him right from wrong. This will require lots of patience!!

Dayton is not crate-trained. He has been kept in an x-pen for a few hours each day and at night along with his brothers. He is not house-trained; we are currently using pee pee pads and have been taking him outside at intervals. He will need continued work on house-training. Again, this will require lots of patience!!

Since he is a small dog, he will most likely live to be 15+ years. This requires a long-term commitment and an adopter that understands the cost of owning a puppy. Because of his young age, we prefer he goes to a home where someone is home most of the day so they can continue to work on his house-training and all the other training a puppy needs. He will benefit from puppy socialization and basic training classes as well.

He currently lives with his brothers and the foster’s 4 small dogs. Because he has been with other dogs since birth, we feel he should go to a home with other pets as he loves to play with other dogs

although he does seem to be a little more independent. He is the easiest and most chill of the 5 puppies. He can always be found lying under the bed or near an AC vent when he’s not playing. And just like his brothers, he is an affectionate boy that likes attention and likes to give kisses.

We require a fenced yard for Dayton. His adoption fee is $450 and we will not be adopting him with any of his siblings.  Experienced adopter required.

Toledo, I’m adopted!

Toledo was adopted in July 2025.

Toledo is the 4th of five puppies born on 04/27/25 to Fiona (the bestest Mom!). He was the runt of the litter and is now the heaviest puppy. He is a beautiful chocolate color with greenish/brown eyes and white “socks” on 3 of his 4 paws. He is the little adventurer of the litter and likes to give his fosters a heart-attack by always “playing hide-and-seek”..lol.
