Charlie Bear. I’m adopted!

Charlie Bear was adopted June 2021!

My name is Charlie Bear and I am a full-on LOVE BUG with my special someone! I am an older gentleman who loves to snuggle and relax with a trusted person. My life was a bit rough previously, so I tend to be very shy and nervous when I meet new people. But if you give me a few days, I’ll warm up to you and become your very own furry shadow! I am a sweet boy who barks only occasionally and wants nothing more than a quiet, loving home.

After a few days together, I became my foster mom’s shadow and snuggle-bug on the couch. Whether she sits on the floor or the couch, I immediately curl up next to her. When she is working at her desk, I nap on the floor right next to her. When she gets up to walk around, I follow her and keep a close eye on her. We enjoy walks around the backyard to stretch our legs and enjoy the outside smells!

I am more nervous with men than women although I’ll warm up to anyone who’s patient and waits for me to get comfortable. But because I’m shy, it’s best that I’m not around younger kids since they can be so unpredictable!

I love to sleep and snuggle, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be active sometimes. We go for walks around the neighborhood and I love to smell EVERYTHING! I also enjoy soft squeaky toys (sometimes just to carry around and sometimes to chew on). Recently, I’ve even begun playing with my foster doggy brother! We chase each other or a soccer ball and we have even started to play-wrestle outside!

In short, I am a shy-but-loving dog looking for a wonderful home with an easy-going owner or two! Can you imagine me as your cuddle-buddy? I sure can!

Freddy and Kennedy. We’re adopted!

Freddy and Kennedy were adopted March of 2021!

FREDDY’S PERSONALITY
I may be small but I have a huge purr! I am very friendly and love to play. I chase balls, and play with toys on strings. I capture the toys and carry them around proudly. My brother and I like to wrestle and I sometimes think his tail is a toy. I like to snuggle under the blankets with my foster mom. I love to climb on the cat tree and look out the window.

KENNEDY’S PERSONALITY
I am friendly and like to cuddle. I like to be petted and have my chin scratched. Sometimes I even like to have my belly rubbed. I have started sleeping with my foster mom sometimes. I love to play with toys on strings – I especially like the string. I also love to catch mice (at least the stuffed ones). I love to climb on my cat tree. My brother and I like to chase each other and wrestle.

Hobbies: playing with toys, and Freddy likes to look out the window
Favorite Toy: both of us like playing with string toys, Freddy also likes balls, and Kennedy likes stuffed mice and feathers
Favorite Napping Spot: Freddy curls up under the dresser, and Kennedy lounges on the cat hammock

HOW WE CAME TO THE PGSPCA
Freddy says: I was living outside with my siblings. We were so small the neighbors worried about us and called PGSPCA for help. My brothers were trapped pretty quickly and went into foster care, but I was too crafty and avoided the traps for two weeks! When I was finally caught, Kennedy had been found in a different part of the county and needed a friend.
Kennedy chimes in: We are now best buds and inseparable. Freddy adapted to our foster home just fine and began playing right away. It took a few days for me to be comfortable, but now I love to cuddle and play.

DREAM FAMILY
We can’t wait to find a warm and welcoming forever home together. We would love a home where we can run and play. We haven’t spent time with kids or dogs but think we could handle either. We love playing with string and balls and mice. We would love to be part of a family who will take care of us and we will love you back.

Fender (part of a pair). I’m adopted!

Fender was adopted January 2021!

PERSONALITY
I am boisterous, outgoing, playful, energetic and gregarious. I enjoy playing with my sister Piper. I am chatty and enjoy head-butting with my foster parents’ faces.

Hobbies: Exploring, playing with the cat wand, keeping my siblings clean and napping in sunbeams.
Favorite toy: Cat wand and peekaboo box (cardboard box with holes cut in it)
Favorite napping spot: next to one of my siblings.

HOW I CAME TO THE PGSPCA
I was found pacing worriedly outside the car repair shop where my brother Chase was trapped overnight. While they tried to help him, they scooped me up and I was so happy to be saved.

DREAM FAMILY
A family that has energy to play with my sister, Piper, and me.

Piper (part of a pair). I’m adopted!

Piper was adopted January 2021!

PERSONALITY
I’m a shy girl with a lot of energy. I know with a loving owner I will come out of my shell! I need gentle pets and patience for me to open up. I love the cat wand and am probably the best wand chaser in the house. I perform spectacular jumps when playing.

Hobbies: Playing with my brothers, cuddling with my big brother Fender, eating!
Favorite toy: Cat wand and peekaboo box (cardboard box with holes cut in it)
Favorite napping spot: Next to my brother Fender.

HOW I CAME TO THE PGSPCA
I was wandering alone hungry and scared in a hotel parking lot, looking for my brothers who had been saved the week before.

DREAM FAMILY
A quiet home where I can be my own cat, along with my brother Fender.

Trixie. I’m adopted!

Trixie was adopted January 2021!

PERSONALITY
I am friendly although I get scared very easily. I will run to my safe place (under the dresser) when I’m scared but I come out quickly. I love to play with toys on strings! Even when I’m scared, I will come out to play. I love to climb on the cat tree and look out the window. I will ask to be petted and every day I am friendlier with people.

Hobbies: playing with toys, looking out the window
Favorite Toy: string toys, stuffed mice, and feathers
Favorite Napping Spot: on the cat tree or under the dresser

HOW I CAME TO THE PGSPCA
I was found with my brother Axel and brought to the PGSPCA in August 2020. We have been with 3 foster families. I was very skittish and needed extra attention to learn how wonderful people can be. We can’t wait to find a warm and welcoming forever home.

DREAM FAMILY
I would love to find a home for me and Axel. We need a calm home because we are still a little skittish. We need a patient family with people who like to play and will spend time with us but will understand that the world is still scary to us. We love playing with string and balls and mice. We would love to be part of a family who will take care of us and we will love you back.

Axel. I’m adopted!

Axel was adopted January 2021!

PERSONALITY
I am friendly but not yet a cuddler (though I think I might become a cuddler). I like to be petted and have my chin scratched. Sometimes I even like to have my belly rubbed. I have started sleeping with my foster mom sometimes. I love to play with toys on strings. I also love to catch mice (at least the stuffed ones). I still get scared of loud noises and sometimes hide when I am scared. I love to climb on my cat tree

Hobbies: playing with toys
Favorite Toy: string toys, stuffed mice, and feathers
Favorite Napping Spot: on the cat tree

Xena. I’m adopted!

Xena was adopted November 2020!

I’m a gentle, affectionate, low-maintenance pointer mix looking for a calm, loving home. I’m a sweet girl around 50 pounds with a striking black and white medium-length coat. I may be 9 years old but you won’t believe that when you pick up my leash for a walk or jog and I prance to your side. I’m spayed and micro-chipped, fully house-trained and have impeccable manners. My favorite activities are being pet and cuddled, playing with a squeaky toy and exploring the great outdoors. When I’m not with you, I can be found napping quietly on my bed. My foster family got me on October 9th and had noticed some shaking of my back legs that can make me nervous of slippery surfaces like hardwood floors. The vet checked me out and think it is from a narrowed disc in my back, which is common as we get older and put me on pain meds. It doesn’t bother me now; I’ll still happily jump in the car to go wherever you’ll take me. If you’re looking for an adorable, loyal, low-key dog who will melt your heart then I’m your perfect companion.

Rusty. I’m adopted!

Rusty was adopted November 2020!

Rusty is happiest curled up by your side. Like most chows, he bonds  firm and fast to his family, and comes looking for you if you’re not  where he expects you to be. However, unlike chows, he is happy to meet  new people, and most dogs. (He’s not crazy about little yappy ones.) He likes his daily constitutional, and looks suggestively at the front  door each morning. He enjoys car rides, but only if he can stick his  head out the window. He is vigilant in protecting the yard from  squirrels. If you’re looking for a sweet companion, Rusty’s your guy!

Lucky. I’m adopted!

Lucky was adopted October 2020!

PERSONALITY

I’m a sweet, loving, playful boy! I take a few days to adjust to new people but once I do, I follow them around asking for chin and tummy rubs. I use my paws like hands, tapping my foster mom’s leg to let her know I want scratches and pulling her hand in to keep the attention going. I also recently realized how comfortable my foster mom’s lap is and I might become a lap cat. If my foster mom wants to know where I am, she just calls me and I always talk back with little meows. I love to play, but I definitely love being petted the most. At breakfast every morning I need to be petted before I’ll eat. It is also very important to be clean, so I spend a lot of time grooming myself to make sure I stay handsome. I also enjoy following my foster family’s old dog around the house. She’s not so sure about me and tries to avoid me, but I think she is warming up to me – she lets me touch noses with her now.

Hobbies: talking with my foster mom, playing with toys and following the dog
Favorite Toy: feathers on string and my ball that makes bird sounds
Favorite Napping Spot: I can nap anywhere, but I like laps!

HOW I CAME TO THE PGSPCA

I was living in a large outdoor colony and never had thought about living indoors. But I got a large wound on my cheek and my feeder noticed it wasn’t healing, so she brought me to a vet. I immediately decided I liked all the attention and food I was getting, so I was happy to stay inside, and now I’m looking for a family to love me forever.

DREAM FAMILY

I need a quiet house and a family that will be patient as I get to know them. I get attached very quickly when I see that you’re nice to me. I will need some hiding spots at first, but don’t worry–once I trust you, I’ll barely use them! Also since my favorite thing is to spend time with my human, I would love a family that is home often so I have company.

Gabby and Chase. Adopted!

Chase and Gabby were adopted October 2020!

Chase and Gabby have been together since they were small puppies (although they aren’t littermates). Unfortunately, due to health issues within the family, they were no longer able to care for them and they are now looking for another home where they can stay together.  Note that Gabby is female, and Chase is male.  Both are fixed.

Gabby is the more quiet and laid back of the two. She is very sweet, although a little shy at first, with new people. She gets along with both dogs and cats, although is somewhat indifferent to them and would prefer not being around high-energy dogs. She loves curling up on the couch and seems to be housebroken. Although, she hasn’t lived with kids, she has been good with the ones she has met.

Chase is a bit more outgoing. He loves his people and greeting you when you come home. He can be barky with other dogs at first, but settles down once he gets to know them. He is mostly housebroken, but should be watched initially until he gets into a routine.

The lives they have known have been upended. Could you be the one to put it back together?
