About Me

Alfie was adopted February 2023!

It’s a lucky home that adds Alfie to the family; he fits in so easily! His good nature radiates from those beautiful amber eyes. This awesome dog captures the heart of everyone he meets.

Alfie is a great dog if this is your first because he’s such an easy-going boy. If you’re an experienced dog owner, you’ll appreciate his lovable, no-drama personality.

Alfie would be an ideal companion in active retirement but he could be a fine dog for a family with gentle kids; he likes to wrestle with other dogs but seems to prefer soft handling when it comes to people. Alfie never mouths or nibbles his foster mom.

Alfie’s used to living with multiple dogs and also gets along very well with a variety of visiting dogs. In fact he’s really bonded with Sophie, the other foster in his temporary home (who will be posted shortly!), so if you are looking for a well-matched pair of young dogs, look no further! Alfie hasn’t received many leash walks because of this and his exercise needs depend on how much off-leash play he gets in a fenced area.

Alfie is a sensitive guy; he takes a little while to get used to new things but will do fine if he’s met with patience while he processes lots of changes. Alfie may be a cautious canine, but he is very food-motivated which is a great help in training. He trots into his crate when he knows a meal is imminent, waiting patiently without a peep, ever the well-mannered pooch.

Alfie’s solid on housetraining if you stick to a routine of feeding and potty breaks. He’s a quiet dog although he does have the watch-dog attribute of barking when people approach his home when he’s outside.

Alfie will politely wait until you’re awake to check if you’re needy of morning cuddles. He prefers that you accompany him outside, even in a fenced yard, and that’s a good idea so you know he’s done his “business” and not rushed back prematurely for your company and/or chow.

If you would treasure this loving young dog and can commit to providing a devoted forever-home where his health and happiness are priorities, please complete an application for Alfie!
