About Me

Franklin was adopted in December 2019!

Franklin is a lot like the lovable and caring Canadian cartoon turtle who is renowned for his kind and caring personality and his love of friends and family. This sweet lap dog loves people of all ages and adores other dogs. But poor little Franklin suffers from a unique condition that makes him look like a silly beginning skier, negotiating an icy slope on a winter day.

This is because he has a condition called cerebellar abiotrophy.  It is a condition in which the brain cells that control nerve function die off, causing him to walk off balance and regularly fall over.  While it is considered a degenerative condition, the neurologist suspects it will be slow progressing in his case and is hopeful he will still have a few years.  It is not painful and no medication is needed.  Ideally, he will live in a house with carpets and no access to stairs. Luckily, he is still a happy trooper who seems completely unaware of his awkward disability.

In the meantime, he trots along in his silly little fashion looking for playmates and a lap to cuddle on. His original owners simply didn’t have time for him.  Won’t you offer this unique, charming boy a second chance?
