My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary in September of 2004. We had talked for a long time about adopting a dog, and with a new house and a fenced back yard, we thought the time was right! After checking Petfinder, we ventured out to your Columbia Petsmart show, where we were greeted by all sorts of dogs - old, young, large and small. My husband spotted Jessie immediately - a sweet looking, golden-red girl, with cute floppy ears, sitting quietly next to her foster mom. We put in our application and left the show. My husband was already in love with the pup named Jessie, and talked about her all the way home. We got a call, had an interview and before we knew it Jessie came to live with us. We renamed her Kona, where we spent the first half of our honeymoon! Kona has passed puppy kindergarten classes, is completely house trained, and seems quite taken with children (especially those bearing cookies). She absolutely LOVED her first winter snow! Adopting a pup has had its ups and downs for sure, but when we come home to see her patiently waiting for us in the window, and are greeted by tail wagging and lots of kisses, it makes it all worth it!
